Tropical Traditions has their Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil 5 Gal. size on sale for $99 until Sunday, Dec. 26th.
This is the coconut oil my family uses for most cooking and I have found that a 5 gal bucket lasts about 8 months to a year (depending on how much you use it, of course). The expeller pressed oil does not have the coconut flavor so it is desirable to add to soups or savory dishes and breads like pizza crusts. Here is some info from their website:
Tropical Traditions Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil non-certified, is made from high quality coconuts in the Philippines. This is the “common” type oil that millions of people in Asia consume on a daily basis. It is less expensive than our certified organic Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil because it does not include the cost of organic certification. We get our Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil, non-certified, from unpoluted areas of the Philippines where pesticides and fertilizers for coconut palms are virtually unknown. The coconuts typically come from very rural areas in the Philippines, far away from major urban centers. It is also deodorized and processed the “old” way with “physical refining” that DOES NOT use solvent extracts. This is the most economical high-quality coconut oil we sell.
Ground shipping for a 5 Gal. bucket is only $18.75 and if you add in a few other sale priced items the shipping costs can be spread out further. Or if you still have your free shipping coupon code waiting to be used, this is the perfect way to use it!
