Nesco makes really affordable dehydrators for those with a smaller budget or who aren’t yet sure how committed they are to doing a lot of dehydrating. They are all on sale right now, with the cheapest ones starting as low as $29.95 and most of them qualify for free Super Saver Shipping.
I much prefer the Excalibur dehydrator (better control, don’t have to shuffle the trays), but you’re right, for those on a budget, this is the next best thing. I recommend getting the one with the thermostat to control the temperature. If you dehydrate at around 105 degrees F, you can preserve the enzymes in the produce.
I prefer my Excalibur also, but I think these are great for those who are starting out especially! Good comment about getting one with a thermostat. Very true.
